The aviation version is primarily a wheel bearing grease with a long service life and wide temp range.
"Mobil Aviation grease SHC 100 is recommended for high speed, heavy load applications such as wheel bearings, as well as for slower speed, high load applications such as landing gear bearings...
Did you use the aviation version or the standard version of the SCH100?
It sounds like the CH grease was only quieter because of the quantity you had to end up using?
Did you use the same quantities of SCH100 and CH?
Efficiency is not just about viscosity. I clingier grease will have less efficiency. I slicker grease will also have better efficiency.
The aviation SCH 100 is also a good flowing grease at colder temps.
It is a NLGI Grade 2/ISO VG 100 grease...
My motor has the older 9 tooth gear.
I'm not really concerned about the noise though, so I won't be changing gears or using a particular grease just to reduce noise.
For what it's worth I AI'd the topic on a few greases I was considering and this is the ranking it came up with based on a few...
Thanks for the comments. I do struggle when I stop during a longish casual ride and get back on the bike. Next time I'm going to carry enough water for the event so I dont have to stop. I kept the battery management as best I could because I wasn't sure if the Beast would cut out once it dropped...
Thanks - per the official timing I managed to overtake 150 competitors by the 20.1 km mark. But fell back 23 places by the finish line. Probably due to my stopping time at the circa 40 km mark.
I have no idea regarding PAS levels. I might email Frey for this info.
I ride both of my ebikes on the lowerst PAS. I guess I just turn them on and go riding! Good prep for comps. :)
You may be correct re the elevation gain - my apologies. For instance one of the climbs was 8.8% average over 1.8 km's. So 20% sounds more feasible. I don't remember lifting the...
You probably wouldn't like the Beast after just a day. I have 2 ebikes and it takes a little time adjusting to each after riding the other. The Beast is heavier, more gears to row through and slower rolling tyres compared to my lighter more nimble Earth T-Rex with fast rolling tyres.
The Beast...
Eco 1 certainly does not spin the tyres. On the steepest part of the climbs it’s barely pulling itself up. Legs are on fire on the climbs in Eco 1. The roadies on there gravel bikes are spinning there tyres though. From memory the peak climb was 20 degrees.
I prefer wear protection over noise reduction. I might go with the Mobil SCH100. If the CH grease is starting to blacken it might be breaking down.
Pic of mine after first opening after 3600 km’s. Seems to have been well greased from factory.
1. Doesn't higher voltage and lower amps aid system efficiency in that there is also less battery sag? Less battery sag = more volts? More volts = more power and more range?
2. PAS 1 suits me fine. I wouldn't say it's over powered nor weak. IMO its actually a great balance from slow steep...
