Grease tried by Thule Dealer. He has acknowledged my unit makes some unusual sounds. He will replace it under warranty when new units arrive, probably a couple of months. In the meantime, while the sound is disconcerating, neither the Dealer or Thule Tech support feels there is a risk

I looked into adding a wire plug at the rear of my SUV (Infiniti) so that I could add lights to my Thule rack and the Hitch installer wanted $ 400 for Parts and Labor as he argued he had to run the wire all the way to the front of the car. Got one more quote not much better

My comment was not related to the bikes sitting on the platforms. As long as you do not exceed the rating, probably not an issue. My question is about the hanger for servicing - just cannot see that it would hold up to a 50+ bike, designed I assume for a regular road bike

I am not optimistic about hanging a 40 lb EBike from the work arm. Thule folds down into a compact size, important to me

I have the Thule Easy Fold and both our bikes are Trek low steps - no problem. I also do not see why it would be a problem if one of the bikes has a conventional cross bar - the clamp arms are very adaptable.
