That's your brake cable that's slipped out. If you line up the slots of the ferrule and lock ring you should be able to slip it back into position. Make sure the slots aren't in line after reassembly.
I don't know what you all are doing about this trade fiasco, but I just bought myself a whole bunch of zip-ties, because they're made in China and the duty is going to suck.

Grin (ebikes.ca) has how to lace a hub motor video, and a spoke calculator, which I have used to build 3 motor wheels. They even sell cut to length spokes. It worked out very well for me.
For some of us a 2 inch tire is fat. Personally, I like nimble and light in bikes, and I prefer suspension in the frame.
Of course, it's your choice of what to ride. People do seem to love their fatties. It makes me cringe though. I remember when fatties became popular in the age before...
Have you taken a voltage reading of the discharge and charge ports? Sometimes the bms shuts down the battery. I've used a force charge (which I assume supplies a sufficient charge voltage) to turn the bms on. I have a Grin Satiator charger that will do this.
