California tries to limit to 250 watt???

Outside of the regulatory, sufficient power for an ebike depends on multiple factors: fitness of the rider, terrain, road safety, cargo load, and sometimes, damnit, I just want to get to and from work. Personally, I like a 750w motor that can run 1200+ watts. I recently put a rear Grin All-Axle...

Not a ebike, so you'll get some shade here. Best to ask your questions on the endless sphere forum.

California tries to limit to 250 watt???

I must of been prescient when I bought this old ebike last summer: It's a Giant Twist Freedom DX W, 2010 I believe. It is such a slow, gutless thing, and was destined for my personal ebike museum to highlight how far we have come in ebike development. Now, I have found that the past is the...

When I was young and strong I wasted those cotters repeatedly. So, my tears are not of joy.

Someone Left the Bike Out In the Rain

I take in strays, bikes that is. I no longer bother severely corroded bikes. It seems to be the life cycle of an inexpensive bicycle. It's ridden and loved for awhile, then migrates to under a tarp in the back yard, then the tarp rots away. Eventually the bike is freed from the bushes and ends...

    Which brake first?

...and practice sober, and then after a few drinks. The computer doesn't react the same and it's good to know, if you're not wanting to kiss the pavement.

Lady cyclist killed in Davis involving juvenile on ebike...on the bike path.

That bike doesn't have regen braking, which kinda sucks on an emoto.

    correct connections when charging

I always plug the battery into the charger, and then pug in the AC. Then unplug the AC before unplugging the battery. YMMV.

Is it possible to repair Reention battery power button (with LED lights)?

Yeah, no arcs and sparks. You don't want to burn your fingers or nose off.

The gym and lack of going.

Yeah, you got me there. My only mid drive chain failure was on my new $300 mid drive ebike. Sad nonetheless, to push that clunker home. Still, I am of the informed belief that the most reliable ebike motor is a quality direct drive hub motor, and regenerative braking is the icing on the cake.

The gym and lack of going.

To maximize reliability in a commuter ebike I would go with a rear direct drive hubmotor with a torque sensing PAS, and a throttle. Nothing sadder than breaking the chain on a mid-drive 😭. I recently installed a Grin All-Axle rear motor on a bike: I have since put on fenders and a rack. At...
