Thanks for reporting back. I've heard that sometimes saddles can be the source of a squeak in your pedal cadence. That's great that it sounds like a fairly simple fix on your saddle!

I generally agree. However, I disagree about "living with it until it gets worse." Especially in the case if it anything related to the bottom-bracket or where the cranks attach to the spline on the bottom bracket. If it is isolated to that location I would try to address it before riding much...

Given that you have indicated that your chain and drivetrain is well lubed, no apparent problems with pedals, and that this occurs at the same point on every rotation of the cranks, I would suggest it may be linked to either: Cranks Bottom-bracket Pedal bearings First try spinning the pedals...

Wear looks pretty typical for 2k miles to me. Looks like they still have some life in them.... maybe another 1k-2k. Bike tires wear faster than car tires, but they are also a lot lighter than car tires.

You'll have no problem with big hills with the Allant+ 7 or 7s.

I've been considering doing something similar. Are the red blocks wood blocks cut to fit? How do you mount them so that they stay in place? Are they easily removed to convert back to a standard cargo (non-bike) hitch rack?

Do you regularly ride over 20mph on your current bike? Or do you have the desire to? If not you might consider the Allant+7 (powered support cuts out at 20mph w/Bosch performance line CX motor) rather than the Allant+7s (powered support cuts out at 28 mph w/Bosch performance line speed motor)...

Yeah, it would be nice if you could just plug into a port on the frame or something so you didn't have to stop to swap the battery.

Nothing wrong with wanting to shave some weight or upgrade components to customize your bike and really make it yours. But I wouldn't stress too much on the weight issue. I think the Como weighs about 46 or 47 lbs while the Allant weighs about 50 lbs. Have your wife carry her water bottle...
