Known Issues & Problems with Zen Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

I have an annoying issue with the Photon Pro. There is a ticking noise coming from the motor when power is applied, ie. when I pedal with assist or when I use the throttle. It sounds like maybe a gear is damage or some dirt got in. Is this a common issue? How can I fix this?

How much did they say for a set of complete plug and play set of wheels?

I have the 27.5x2.25, they worked great. It's best on ice, thin snow, and packed snow. As long as the studs can make contact with a hard surface, the tires will grip. I feel super confident on my winter commute.

Well.. the Ice Spiker was awesome on ice... but snow was difficult lol. I think you need 4" or more for snow.

I'd love to see a Zen Fat bike with belt drive for the Canadian winter.

The fit was super tight.. I had a hell of a time removing and mounting the tyres.

It was super tough to put these on. I think I ll build a new set of wheels for the summer. I bought the 2.25 because 2.6 were not available.

Does the Photon have enough clearance for 27.7x2.6 studded? I cannot find any studded tires at 27.5x2.4. So far just 2.25 and 2.6. i ride in Winnipeg and it's definitely icy here.

I went for a short 10km ride, that's as much throttle only as I can tolerate. 10km will cost you about 13~14% on throttle only.

The suspension seatpost came standard with the Photon Pro. I think CVT works well for ebikes. I usually shift to a lighter "gear" when coming to a stop. Then shift to a level where I can maintain a certain cadence. Not many hills here, so I shift based on the wind.

Sorry, I had every intention to test throttle only, but only 1 mile into the ride... I forgot and started pedaling. I'll try again tomorrow.

I was able to reach 45kph on assist lv 1 and 2 with effort; higher levels was much easier.
