2025 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

I would have taken a photo, but I would have died. There was this long mt hood to the beach relay races, about 120 miles, I think. coming home on the bike path is one of their pit stops with a bunch of porta potties, it is 4 pm 100 degrees+ wit htye blacktop and the smell just about knocked me...

    brake pad material

Heat is a thing on brakes they would need braised on. plus the materials would be expanding and contracting in use all of the time. but hey Darwin loves cheapskates.

    brake pad material

How would you bind it? How would you shape it so it is the right size? Would you be willing to bet your life on it working? Brake pads are not that expensive and way to f*ck around with.

Squirrels are kinda smart about going back. Though I had one that ran across the road, then decided to go back then when I was close, went back the way he was going, chattering at me. Had one jump out of a tree this morning right in front of me.

The yellow mirror wrap was pretty cool looking. can't. Imagine the upkeep. But I am sure they can afford it.

    How about greasing electrical connectors?

this works great for the job. I have used it to waterpoof my garage door opener so I can have it on my bike in the rain. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000P1C8UO/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_5?smid=A363BFUBCLUQU5&psc=1

Not really advanced but - cassette wear after first 180 miles?

this is one thing that gets me on my second gen bosch the spin stops instantly when you stop pedaling the 4 gen it goes a tiny bit when you let up so shifting is clunkier and I see more wear on cassettes.

Not really advanced but - cassette wear after first 180 miles?

Looks fine. I usually get maybe 8000 miles on a cassette but it depends on so much. my first bosch bike I had 14k on the original cassette. on our bosch powered tandem the 13t cog would skip around 2000 miles.

    Tubeless Blues

feels better at the same pressure, softer. going to be less me use more pliable tires without the worry of punctures I would get with them with tubes. On the tandem, it really helps.

    Tubeless Blues

What I like about tubeless is that I seldom have to stop and deal with an issue; I can usually make it where I need to go, or I just need more sealant, as that's why it did not seal. It needs a plug. But I can run lower PSI for a smoother ride, and I can have nicer riding tires without the worry...
