Advice needed: Injured Athlete Looking for an Electric Road or Gravel Bike

If you have a road bike that you love, think about pricing a Calfee conversion to e-bike. It's not for me, because I ride a frame small enough that I would lose access to water bottle cages. https://calfeedesign.com/calfee-ebike-retrofit-service/ The Yamaha Civante runs around $3400 This Ribble...

Ski Goggle Lens tint for cold weather/ direct sun or helmet with better sun shade?

Helmets with visors tend to be marketed as mountain bike helmets, and those without visors as road helmets. Specialized tends to have slightly deeper visors. However, when the sun is close to the horizon, helmet visor cannot get low enough. You may want to look at https://dabrim.com/ helmet...

    New Owner of Domane+ ALR

@Deacon Blues I got the titanium rear rack from bikeman.com - they are a distributor for Carver Bikes, the manufacturer of the rack. http://carverbikes.com/parts/accessories/ti-raq-rear-rack/ My wonderful husband did bend the titanium stays with a bench vise for me. I used poster paper and a...

    New Owner of Domane+ ALR

I bought a Domane+ ALR in late July. Had to drive to a Trek store in adjacent state to get a size 52cm. I have ridden 284 miles on the bike so far. I really like the Fazua system, and the geometry of this road bike suits me. I have upgraded the firmware to version 2.12 (released Aug 6, 2021)...

Lock-down fallout: more bikes & ebikes & Light EVs!?

I know the Durham, NC stay-at-home order said that bicycle stores were essential, because bikes are transportation. The mayor said he preferred curbside service and drop-off. I haven't gone to the front door of any local bike shops to see if they are open for maintenance.

Lock-down fallout: more bikes & ebikes & Light EVs!?

I see a fair number of e-bikes when I'm riding on weekends. I always see at least 1 if I ride on ATT for a few miles or sit at the New Hope Church Rd rest stop for a bit. I often see 2 or 3 on the White Oak Creek greenway. I have seen people riding e-bikes in neighborhoods in Cary, usually...

I have a Comotion Pinion bike and I want to add a motor and battery to it. What are my options?

This is an expensive option, but Calfee has an e-bike retrofit service. https://calfeedesign.com/calfee-ebike-retrofit-service/

ELF - Very Interested - But a few questions

I disagree with Popeye here. I control the lane that I'm using. I do choose safe places to pull off and 'release' faster traffic. I help to create circumstances for the motorist to make a safe pass; the motorist forgets about me as soon as they get past me. In states with a 3ft passing law, a...

Cycling long distances and climbing hills without knee pain using an electric bike

I highly recommend bike fitting. I've had it done on a few bikes. Some people can use a non-fitting bike for lots of miles without pain. Some cannot. The basic level bike store fitting sets the pedal to saddle relationship for the rider (height and the 'knee over pedal' forward/backward...

Cycling long distances and climbing hills without knee pain using an electric bike

For Court, sorry to read about your knees. I've had some knee pain (only on the right). Exercises from physical therapy have helped, and put the knee replacement some years into my future. I have used a roller and had PT on my IT band problems. The PT recommended consultation with an...

E-trike selection advice needed (disability issues)

I have a below knee amputation on 1 leg. I don't have balance issues, but I get a lot less strength from 1 leg. There are a few manufacturers of electric trikes, https://www.pedegoelectricbikes.com/product/trike/ and Worksman. Spinlife sells...

First 280 miles with my new Trek Verve+: LOVE IT!!!

I got a Verve+ in the coral color. I asked the store to install my Jones H-bar handlebars, and a rear rack. I have to carry a laptop, so am using panniers. My commute is 14.5 miles each way. Due to rain and workload, I did not commute very many times during Nov - Dec 2018. My average speed on...
