    Battery Display Settings

Folks have a lot of different ideas as to what the power meter should show. What makes sense to me, doesn’t seem to make sense to the industry. I’d like each bar to represent a linear amount down to a (programmable) minimum (which is the zero). That means each 20% (linear) interval — five...

Awesome! I wish I’d been able to make my lovely Merlin Ti MTB fit me, but the upshot is that my son has it in Brooklyn now (young back), so I don’t feel so badly about it. :) Plus, my Fättie has been transformational for me!

New Federal E-Bike Legislation March 2026

Well, it’s certainly time for an update. Like many things, though, I wonder if federal legislation will have teeth at the state level. Anyway, I hope the rules become CLEAR and ENFORCEABLE as those are my criteria. I think questions of technology (like power, etc.) should be avoided, but I...

California tries to limit to 250 watt???

I won’t get into Newsom… But if 250W is what’s being proposed as an absolutely limit, that is ridiculous. It’s good that there’s a Federal effort underway. @Chargeride is 250 really the limit in Europe? And, by the way, what does continuous mean in terms of legislation. That’s nutz.

    Aventon Level 4 ADV

@Rás Cnoic I get what you're saying about the tech data overload and the competitive aspect of Strava, but I ride with RideWithGPS turned on on my phone with a handlebar mount. It’s actually really cool (and not distracting) to have a trail map laid out on a screen while riding. Especially if...

    Aventon Level 4 ADV

I suspect most of us are here because we love to ride. I think anything that creates options for people to get engaged with riding, especially after putting on a few years and pounds and wandering away…. well, that’s a good thing. p.s./ 37.5 mi. on almost all trails today. I is a happy...

That’s right, Chris. The material itself can flex, though. You’re not going to get that margin of error from other bike materials. I guess I was getting at whether this is a good or bad thing for an > 300lb rider. Maybe I’m all washed up. :) For the record, I love titanium!

    Aventon Level 4 ADV

I’ll bet auto-shift is a nice feature for road-bikers. I can’t really wrap my head around it since I do mostly trail riding (and I’m kinda’ old school), but I’m glad Aventon has made inroads there. They (Aventon) are definitely leading the pack.

Looks like a nice ride, Stefan. That pizza is a little too loaded for my taste, but I’ll be it’s an awesome motivator for the ride.

    Aventon Level 4 ADV

Looks like an awesome bike, @GuruUno ! Thanks for the review. Let us know if you experience any problems. As you said, there’s been a lot of silence around here with these newest Aventon models, and I/we’d love to hear more!

And they have. The recent electronics and features seem quite advanced compared to the competition. I’m waiting to see how their (very recent) mid-drive motors work out for folks, including the OP. By the way, Aventon is the only company with a reasonably priced mid-drive fatty, and it uses...

Interesting. Yeah, that makes sense. I actually would’ve bet on the bottom bracket as being the first thing to fail, Pedal… Someone this big using a Ti frame is a surprising choice. Maybe Ti’s flexibility is a good thing here? I’ll be following along. Coolness.

My goodness. 330 pounds. Is that frame titanium? What an interesting build, Pedal!
