I just use my old 5$ watch so no idea about kms. Early april i did 5.5 hrs and at 64 i am not trying to do more than that. I pretty much ride everyday so my kms/year is high because i am retired.

Hi, i am considering buying a new Trek Rail 5 2020. Is it a good climber? What about technical sections? Is it reliable? I plan to replace the 29x2.6 by 2.8, any issue?

How reliable is the system? I am used to a Yamaha/Giant system. Does it climb as well? What are the aspects that need to be improved for that generation 4?

28 is used for road it will be the diameter including the tire with bigger tires(mountain) they are called 29 so if it is wide enough it will do. For todays tires you probably want about 29-30 MM (inside)

My question is about the motor/system, i know for my use i enjoy a HarTail with 9 grears or more to have fun climbing.

I would look for some debris, wood between gears of your cassette that might not allow the chain to properly fit

Are you sure your hanger is fine? Is your chain stretched?

By itself the throttle is an option and do not need to be used. But i just read they offer a cup holder. It just shows the target customer. Heavy bike, big battery, a motorcycle feel with a legal pass to name it a bicycle.

With good sensors we feel like we have throttles under our feet with a Yamaha.

It depends what you are looking for. For a while i had an Haibike Yamaha system and for 32 kmh the power was there. The 250 watts is just how they name it but the peak power is a lot more. But they are not available now in Canada so i am considering a Giant wich comes with Yamaha. Giant and Trek...

Thanks for the info. I guess soon the website will help me find if your hard tail will be an option for me. Giant offers one for 3,200$ canadian and yours is more. Like often it is about matching our needs/wants with a bike that fills them.
