Wonder why?

Well I took my almost new NCM( 5 kilos) to a semi-local bike shop the proprietor had agreed to consign it( it was to small for me) the proprietor was to get a 20% fee, they had it a couple of days, then the proprietor called Me today to come pick it up.This fellow and His main man looked it over and decided that He wasn't going to sell it from His shop( He sells Specialized and Aventon, probably a couple of others) was excited when Wife told Me "Black Dog Bikes" was on the phone, I thought Man that was fast even though I was taking a reaming,So let down aside if the NCM bike is not good enough to sell in His shop that really bothers Me, besides losing a customer He will not get any more endorsement from Me.
Anybody else want a new NCM "Milano" for $800?

It's all about the $$.

IMO, he would likely be more interested in selling a new Specialized or Aventon to a potential customer rather than your used bike. The profit he would make on the sale of a new bike would be considerably more than the 20% commission he would make on yours.

I think he realized this after making the deal with you and changed his mind.

We have a for sale section. Post it up! When I sold my RadRunner 1 it sold in a week. I still miss it sometimes.

That´s too bad. Don´t know from a Milano, but My NCM moscow has proved very reliable for an
inexpensive bike. Any issues have been of the sort also common amongst pricier bikes. The big
difference is that the NCM keeps costs down using common place, generic parts instead of costly
model specific parts that may take weeks to arrive. That guy doesn´t deserve a 20% commission.
I do all my own work since most bike shop workers are not really more familiar with ebikes than I.
Any used bike lost 25% or more of it´s value the moment it leaves the new seller. Craigslist is loaded
with bikes that never sell due to unrealistic prices. I´m sure yours is worth $800, but you´d do better
listing it on ebay, local pickup only, for $675 if you want to sell in a timely fashion. I´d pay $800 if I
needed it, but shipping would still be prohibitive. Be sure to accent the new condition & the reason,
(too small), for selling. Local buyers have the option of inspecting the bike & seeing value 1st hand.

Yeah, however I believe His "Mainman" had it in for Me anyway, because He was
'tsking" to start with. I have a hunch NCM are probably similar quality to 'Aventon", the bike has good components,"Schwalbe Big Ben tires ,etc.

Probably cuz his pricey inventory isn´t moving enuff to make a profit.
I will and I may let Him know I will probably not be darkening His door anytime soon.He alluded to the fact the sales of Ebikes were starting to climb.

Thank you John Peck, well I may just start juggling components and see what 2 Hp on the rear wheel will do,I have this neat 10 ah triangle battery I could parallel( again Dangerous visions) after I try to sell it a little longer, its frame was the biggest available
click bait title 😑
?
in that bike.

Scooter, hows the trike doing? I may list that bike in the sale section, it would be perfect for a smaller Man or the Average Woman,Its 500 watts and it pulls nice and the battery seems to have good endurance( of course when I get on a bike I expect to pedal, been so busy this summer didn't have time to ride- what was that saying about being busier after retirement than before?)

I'm not a facebooker myself, but you do have the option of Facebook Marketplace (as well as Craigslist and Ebay, though I believe Ebay has some kind of cut on the selling price).

Either 3 of those selling mediums will give your bike a bigger audience than that semi-local bike shop could ever hope to accomplish. And I think the timing, what with the locked-down ports and shrinking national ebike inventory because of the ports situation, should be a very favorable situation for you. Good luck with your sale!

Yup, cover all options. Who was the distributor/franchise you bought it from? I got mine from Seattle.
They were not terribly communicative about spoke failures as the stock tires really don´t work for
a guy built like a pro lineman. Itś okay though, Beefier sidewalls & higher psi resolved that, the only
real issue in 4500 miles other than chain & brake pads at 3000.

You know something seriously if I started having spoke failures I would took a look a "Mag wheels" top speed at this time isn't a thing with me at this station of life.

Oh, it's you! I sold the trike to a friend. He can ride 2 wheels just fine but he just fell in love with the trike. It's doing well. He had almost 600 miles on it! I just sold my RadRunner 1 and already miss it. I don't really care for its replacement, a E-Lux Malibu GT, after living with it. I did a review of it. Anyways, I might take the Tern at my local REI out. Tired of cheap and cheerful ebikes.

You reminded me of a Musician I knew, anyway glad the trike worked out,I rather like the looks of the Tern as well, living in town I would imagine a cargo-style bike would be very useful and getting something a little more top end may start the romance again.
I came to grips with the Semi-local shop owner today and He made good sense why He didn't want to sell my bike,I understand completely and its no hard feelings, the Aventons He sells are a very good looking bike at that price point and His prices were not "scalping" level either. The way they upgraded that Hyper I am converting has me sold on their work and good luck ScOOter, nice to hear from you-Kevin

Well, I retrieved the "Milano" today and the Shop owner totally got Me on His side, the point He made-Its a nice bike, on the other hand, if He sold it, the customer would come back to Him if He had issues and He doesn't sell this brand and it would be hard to get replacement parts, case closed I suppose and I still like the shop.
I guess a person must cherish a good shop and those "Aventons" He sells are mighty appealing( just saying)- thanks for the support,Kevin
