Will any Specialized dealer honor the warranty?

I know that there's more goodwill if you go in for service at the shop that sold you the bike, but given the limited number of Turbos around, I might need to buy from a dealer that's not very close (and so it wouldn't make sense to return there for warranty/service). Can I then bring it in to a different (local) Specialized shop for warranty service/repairs? I fear that the answer is yes (in theory) but not really (in practice) because the non-selling dealer won't be as invested and might care much about free/low paying warranty work on a bike they didn't sell.

The answer may be NO. In order to sell a Turbo in the first place, the dealer needs to be certified (send a tech to school, etc.). You really should try to pair up with a dealer who sells and services. By the way, I do all of my own service for most of the things that a non-certfied dealer would do including normal service plus tires, cables, chains, shifting, brakes (except bleeding).

Your local shop probably would work on the bike, but you would be expected to pay..at least for labor, and possibly parts...even for warranty work. It would be similar to a preowned bike purchase... would the warranty follow the bike?

The only way to find out for sure is talk to the shop.

The short answer is yes. Our LBS, local bike shop, has done warranty work on bikes purchased from elsewhere. The problem is getting the original bike shop to provide a receipt of purchase...at least in our experience so far to facilitate the warranty repair.

One question, why wouldn't you buy it from the local rep? If they aren't that great in service I would take that into account of any purchase because that is who is going to be fixing your bike.

I would definitely prefer to buy from the local shop where I'd want to go for service (even if the price is higher). The challenge might be if that shop doesn't have the bike I want (model or size) in stock.

Ok, I get what you are saying now. You could always test ride at one shop and ask the local shop to order it for you. Living in Hawaii, we get a lot of Specialized bikes that weren't purchased from our stores...I would say about 30-50 percent of them in fact and we don't have any problem/attitude in servicing the non local bikes.
