Okay, so you have roughly 1k to spend on converting a MTB to an ebike (including the cost of the used MTB). Which brand do you start with? Giant, Trek, Cannondale etc.?

Like Tomjasz stated $1000 could be cutting it close, i know a BBSHD kit is nearly $800 bucks without a battery! What motor are you planning on using?
