Where is that noise coming from?

Hello,

On two bikes :

* A Specialized Como 3 IGH (3200 km)
* A Specialized Como 5 IGH (1300 km) : it's an AutomatiQ Enviolo

Sometimes, when I pedal firmly (especially in the slowest mode with the AutomatiQ, at around 50 rpm), I hear a loud clacking noise. I managed to record the noise because it was really reproducible that one time, but to be honest, that's not always the case; I can also ride 100 km without it occurring. Two hours ago, it happened at a roundabout and it was quite dangerous because my movement is not smooth for a brief moment and it takes me by surprise. When I say “firmly,” I don't mean particularly hard, but about 140/160 W.

I'm a little surprised because this happened with my first Como (the 3) and it's happening again with this one, which isn't from the same place. Both are still under warranty, but I'd like your opinion before contacting the retailers...! Thank you!

EDIT : In the video, the noise occurred when I pressed the left pedal; I don't know if that matters or not...

Looks like your pedal is hitting something jutting out from the battery on the left ??

You made me go for a bike ride in the dark! And I swear I wish I had been stupid enough not to notice such a detail, but the pedal is quite far away and really, the noise is coming from somewhere else. Either from the crankset or from the back of the bike (the Enviolo system ?). It's hard to tell while riding (but it's very reproducible, I've just done it 5 or 6 times, always in Slowest mode, so I have to push quite hard, but it also happens in other modes, more rarely).

I’m sorry, Palm, but please have another look. The video you took clearly shows either your shoe or the inside of your pedal crank hitting something on the frame (looks like the battery). Having said that, Occam’s Razor has failed me in the past, so I’ll admit I’m wrong if you actually find something else going on. Please take a picture of it or video if you find it. Good luck!

You can see how far the crank is to the battery port (it couldn't be any closer). Also, in the video, you can clearly see/hear that the fifth noise occurs after the pedal passes by this port. I tried again this morning (daylight! Yoohoo!) and can reproduce the noise quite easily; it definitely isn't coming from this port.

Nevertheless, I understand that with so little information, you couldn't really find the problem. I don't know how to diagnose it further.
