Just purchased a Trek Allant 7s from our local bike shop. They had a good selection to choose from and I decided to spend a few dollars more and get one that will top out at 28 mph. Not sure how often I’ll bike at 28 but like in the movie Top Gun you never know when I might feel the need for speed

I am looking forward to reading the posts about e bikes. I am 72 and have been riding for a number of years and hopefully have a few more years of riding in me. One of my sons told me “Dad it’s better to wear out than rust out”

Congrats and welcome to the forum. The Trek Allan is a great bike. Although you may not hold a speed of 28 mph, at least the Class 3 motor drive won't cut out at 20mph. Enjoy. Lots of good stuff to found on the forum.

Congratulations! It will be far easy for you to maintain speed over 20 mph on your Allant 7s, which is a great advantage of the good Class 3 e-bike. Don't get carried away with high speed though! :) (Seriously, I had the worst accidents in a few days after buying my first e-bike!)

You’ll like the Allant+ 7’s. The torque makes easy work of most hills. I was talking with an analog roadie who told me I wouldn’t make it up a particularly steep and long hill even with my 9.9S, so of course I had to try. I made it, though I’ll admit I wouldn’t want to do it again unless absolutely necessary. 😂

Welcome @IowaHawkeye68. Take it someplace safe and practice. Figure eights are great. Once you get that down at various sizes and speeds take it some place lumpy and do the same. And then again on a slope. I saw one guy crash 20 seconds into his first ride. The last time I crashed my friends called me rainbow man because I had bruises of every color covering my entire body.
