I have been researching e-bikes and have a dilemma. 80% of where I ride, I could use a class 3 bike. But the other 20% requires I get a class 1. I could just get a class 3 and fly under the radar and hope I don’t get caught or in an accident but I would prefer to follow the rules.
So I want Bosch to develop is a dual class bike motor.
It would work as follow:
So I want Bosch to develop is a dual class bike motor.
It would work as follow:
- Be fully compliant as a class 3 bike. Be switchable to class 1. (I realize Bosch is not going to put a switch in the display to do this.)
- Switch or electronic key is accessed by removing the battery to gain access, no switching on the fly. (If this still doesn’t meet regulations they could make is so if you start switching sequence there is a time delay before you can activate any assistance levels.)
- By operating the switch or key the class display sticker moves form class 1 to 3 or vise versa and is displayed thru a plexi-glass window and on the display.
- Class 1 would carry the CX motor profiles. Class 3 would carry the speed motor profiles.
- Smartphone GPS mapping would show class 1 cookie trail in blue, class 3 cookie trail would be displayed as red
