Vehicle Rack for 2 Aventures?

Can anyone recommend a vehicle rack for two Aventures? Doesn't look like any of the racks Aventon sells can handle the weight.

Thanks!

I just got my two Aventures and was having the same problem. There is a Hollywood rack on Amazon that can carry up to 100 lbs per bike. The ASIN is: B08HJTFN64. I ordered it and received it but just as it arrived I was notified by 1Up that I could order their rack (they are backlogged). So I am returning the Hollywood and going with the 1Up. Check them out at: www.1Up-USA.com. I liked their setup better. Hope this helps.

I love my RockyMounts rack, rated for two 60lb bikes. I pull the battery packs when both go on.
Kuat is another good one, and Thule.
There are some good rack reviews by google search, depending on the vehicle and style of bike.

Thanks for the tip! Which model 1Up did you settle on?

I got the 2” Super Duty Double in black. It is going to arrive tomorrow so they turned it around fast.

Peruzzo Pure Instinct Platform Trunk mount E- Bike rack.
I imported the rack from Italy on August 2, 2021..
because I can not put a hitch on my Civic, used twice...
( according to our hitch installer, who said the weight of the two e-bikes would push the limit)
Can not purchase the rack from a USA company..
Sits too high on my 2011 Honda civic to be convient for me to lift the bikes to load..
This is not a normal regular platform rack, it is a Heavy Duty rack, total carring weight is 45 kg (99 pounds total for two e-bikes)
For many types of vehicles..

Paid $500. to import..
Comes with extra long heavy duty grab arm , and two extra bike platfrom extenders for longer e-bikes...

^^Dead link.
Curt has a bunch of hitches for the civic, all with a 200lb tongue weight rating:

A rack and a couple of bikes comes right in about there.
My Sparky surely isn't any more heavy duty than a civic - both have a stamped sheet metal body frame, and my Rocky Mounts works just fantastic.
Curt recommends a support strap to prevent bounce, you can see it from frame to top of rear hatch. I thought that was a little hokey, but sure enough it works great.
This rack is 50lbs, and the two eMTB's are about 52 each with packs removed, so we're well under. Car drives and tows great. Super easy to load too.

@dfaulk how is the 1up treating you? Are you using it with a bike that has fenders? I am thinking of getting one but I am concerned about the pressure of the mechanism on the rear tire fender. I dont want to have it crack and break while driving on bumpy roads

^^ A tire-locking bike rack doesn't work on a bike with fenders. Not sure if I understood that correctly.

@Browneye Sorry was that a question or a statement?
Not a question. A rack with a keeper bar that clamps down on the tire will not work with a bike that has fenders.
I just took a quick look at '1Up' racks and perhaps their clamps can be configured to work with some fenders. They clamp in a different place than the over-the-tire type hold clamps found on other racks.

Yes, exactly. And like my RockyMounts. My BIL has the Kuat one on a Highlander, and I liked it so well I went looking for one when we got the new RV 'toad'. The Kuat's are nice but very high-$$ - with some models up to the $700-range.

I'm not real excited about all the alloy linkage on the 1Up, but it seems to get good reviews. I have not seen it in action either.
I will say I'm thrilled to death with my RockyMounts though, it's really slick, and was a good price - about $450. Also got very high marks from GearLab on their test of various racks of similar type.

A bike with fenders is a different challenge for sure.

I just bought a KÜA NV 2.0 my Level fits very snugly so far I'm happy with the rack. FWIW I bought it from a Trek Bike shop the prices of their e-Bikes are off the charts. I'm glad I bought the Aventon.

I purchased this 200lb capacity two bike rack last November for $115.00 from Walmart. It is currently out of stock at Walmart but here is a place that advertises the rack in stock for only $70., and in stock for $192 on eBay. The rack works great and it folds up for storage. It will carry two Aventures easily. Only caution is, DO NOT rely on the flimsy velcro straps they supply to secure your bikes. I use additional tie downs on each wheel.

Here is a post that I did a few months back with detailed pix.

The rack attaches to the receiver hitch with a threaded bolt, so it locks in tight on the hitch, no rattling or lateral movement within the receiver hitch. "Casual" theft of the rack is deterred, anyone attempting to steal it will need to come prepared with a 15/16 socket wrench to remove the bolt.

I used my Fultyme hitch for the first time yesterday - 50 miles each way and it held completely secure. I did go out and buy a 24mm socket to help with installing/removing the hitch bolt and I used short bungees for securing the wheels to the racks although I'm not sure they were needed. Since I only needed to transport one bike I just left the second set of racks off for now to save some weight when putting it on/taking it off. Very impressed.

^^Looks good. But the frame-hold bar would be a non-starter for me.
The rocky-mounts main frame bar rises higher after the hitch insert part, creating a lot higher ground clearance. Not sure about others, but I think Kuat's do as well. Hope you don't drag on driveway aprons with the 'fultyme'.

At first I noticed 1Up's comparison table indicated that the Super Duty 2" Double rack you acquired could only handle a 3.1" tire (the Aventure tire of course is 4"). However, further research on their website indicated they sold a fat tire spacer kit for $34 that expands its capacity to 4.9". Great! Please re-post here to let us know how the rack works with your two Aventure bikes (I'm getting two myself so am keen to learn). May I ask separately what "better setup" on the $625-$679 1Up rack was compelling enough to return the Hollywood rack which can often be obtained between $450 and $500?

Has not been a problem, but easily solved for $35-$40.
