Vanmoof S3 - Intro

S3Me

I ordered the S3 back in April 2020 and received it exactly 3 months later. Vanmoof was very responsive to me. I've seen where that has not been the case with others but they were great with me. I actually received my S3 a week early. The site was updated regularly so I was pleased. The delivery was kicked off via an email from Vanmoof. The email included a tracking number. I live in the US so everything appeared to be coming from the NYC store. It was sent via UPS and when I got the email I started tracking. Who wouldn't at this stage? When the bike was on the truck I kicked off the "follow my delivery" UPS app. I noticed that the truck was in one place in a community close to me for several hours. I checked the website and they're contingency for disabled vehicles was that they sent another driver out to the location and both apparently unload the truck into the working truck and the driver continues with his deliveries. This particular day a big storm was brewing. When I saw on the app where my truck was close, he actually showed up in a Ryder truck rental. When he opened the door I saw the Vanmoof box on it's side at the bottom of several other boxes on top. This really worried me! He helped me carry the bike inside as the rain started falling. The box wasn't in bad shape but it was easy to see that it had a tough ride from NYC to Tennessee. I got everything put together and found that the front wheel was out of true and the front fender was bent far to the left. Other than that it looked great! The motor cord was a tough one getting the cover on but not too bad. I made a truing tool out of a piece of cardboard and a clothes clip and got the wheel back in true. Front brake caliper was a bit to one side and I used the supplied tools and got the disc centered. Alls good! The bike is heavy and running like a top. I hope to help those who may be a bit worried about taking care of one of these babies. I've been riding and building bikes since the 60's so any question or concern shouldn't be a problem at all.
