Dear,

I'm thinking about changing the tires on the bike with Schwalbe marathon efficiency 2.35.
I mainly cycle in the city And sometimes on a dirt Roads

Do you think it would be a good choice?
Will the tires fit our are they to width?

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Michel,
One of the myths that people tend to believe is stock tyres delivered with a premium e-bike are substandard. Your Pathfinder Sport tyres are just excellent: they are silent on the pavement, grippy off-road, hard to puncture, and supple. These are next to the renowned Pathfinder Pro 2Bliss (fast rolling gravel tyres). Necessary to mention, Specialized is one of respected bicycle tyre manufacturers.

Anyone of us must have made a similar mistake, and I was thinking exactly as you in my e-biking beginnings. Now, I greatly recommend to enjoy your Pathfinders! Once they get worn (which will not happen soon!), try another brand to learn :)

P.S. Have look at the Pathfinder Sport tread and compare it to the Schwalbe Marathon Efficiency. Pathfinders have a central strip of hard rubber, making you ride fast and silently on the sealed roads. The tread becomes progressively more and more aggressive (and soft) outside for steady cornering and on the dirt. The Schwalbe Efficiency tread is really weird. Probably a good tyre but I do not believe it could be any better than the Pathfinder.

Michel,
Just to add a little bit of fun, let me tell you my own anecdote: My 45 km/h Vado came with certified Specialized Electrak 2.0 Armadillo with Gripton Compound (what a name! haha!) tyres in size 51-622 (a 29" version). The tyres looked almost slick but rolled extremely fast, were durable, grippy even on wet asphalt, and practically not to be punctured. In my naievety, I replaced them with Schwalbe Smart Sam in the hope of "more off-road grip". After several thousand km ridden I could understand my mistake. Smart Sams were pretty loud on asphalt, introduced significant rolling resistance, and were not that fantastic off-road as I had thought :) The dedicated stock tyres, that is, Electraks, turned out to be the best for the intended use and e-bike design! :)
