Vado 4.0 - weird ODO vs trip meter

I have written posted about this before when writing about other things I thought was wrong with my new Vado 4. I start this thread to see if I can get you help in this matter. I f you have the time take a look at enclosed picture showing my my readings/notes of the ODO and trip meter on my Vado 4 display. I have documented it all on photos if someone would be in doubt that this could be true.
The ODO records, most of the time, less km than the trip meter and there is no regularity in it!
Just like Marvin Gaye I say - What´s going on?
Would love to hear you comment on this.

I was kind of hoping ( even if I didn’t write it out) that someone could explain to me how and where on the Vado the odo and trip meter get its information to be presented on the display.
I know there is a magnet on the rear disc and a sensor on the chainstay. That’s how my first bicycle speedo and ODO/trip meter worked 25 years ago. Pretty simple stuff, not really complicated software to handle the rotation of a known wheel circumference and present distance and speed ( with the help of an internal clock).

Now, on my Vado the odo and trip meter have different opinions of the length of a kilometer and it’s not a constant difference as can be seen in the table in my first post.
How is this possible? It should be very hard to f..k up a software to act like that if odo and trip meter get the same input.
My dealer said on Tuesday morning he would send my table with my notes to Specialized ( acted a bit slow I thonk because he had the info on Monday morning). I have not received any other feedback since then.

Tuesday 21 August I called the dealer again. That was 1 week since he said he had forwarded my info/complaint to Specialized.
This time he said my observation and complaint was forwarded to Specialized US. Haven’t heard anything more since then.
Well I’ve heard a new sound or noise from the motor or crank. Since Thursday evening there is a chirp or creak once every revolution of the crank.

I tried to contact Specialized. I got the impression Specialized in Germany was some sort of European center so I emailed them writing in English. Got an answer after a couple of days in German. I guess they just sent me a standard answer. ( it said they recommended contacting local dealer) I would expect anyone in Europe working for a US company to speak and write English.
I will ask the Specialized Concept Store if they can advice even if I didn’t buy my bike there. My dealer is a certified dealer that sells a lot of Specialized bikes, e-bikes and regular bicycles.

I interpret it as like they don´t give a f...

Thats´s the entire answer. I haven´t excluded anything. The Swedish text just says we´ve got an answer from Specialized.
The 2 sentences in English is apparently cut and paste from a mail from Specialized to my dealer.
Nothing else. They seem to be fine with selling their e-bikes with a nonfunctional odo.

Hi there! Bud here in Denver. I have recently learned there is a Tech Bulletin dated August 2018 that states for all Vado models it is necessary to inspect and clean the speed sensor magnet located on the rear brake rotor. Over time it will collect metallic debris from the brake and may not function as intended ---- hence strange readings for speed and distance and possibly motor malfunction. Simply use stronger magnet to pull away debris and/or clean with alcohol. Specialized may have published the bulletin by now...

When I first picked up my Vado 4.0 I hadn’t yet figured out how to reset the trip computer but could never understand why the trip and odo were showing different amounts when both had started from zero. It was a brand new bike so couldn’t have been to do with cleaning anything. But every time I set off now I reset the trip. But now you have reminded me, I must note the start and end Odo reading and see if it still is different from the trip. It seems the quirks with these bikes are fairly universal!

My guess is that you will find that sometimes the odo and trip meter show different distances, but not every day. It depends on when, and maybe how often , you turn battery/motor of during the day.
You probably read the answer from Specialized in my post above so you will understand why this happens.
Well not fully understand perhaps because I can’t understand why Specialized choose to record the odo distance the way they do.
It’s a fun bike and I like a lot about but I think Specialized teamed up with the wrong software guys.
