Unusual brake noise...

Anybody else experience a strange brake noise, especially evident in a higher speed stop?
The sound is a pulsing, gurgling sound...kind of like a liquid.
It's coming from the rear rotor, hydraulic disc brakes, on an Aventon Pace 500 step-through.

Perhaps check your hydraulic lines and do a brake flush and service?

Brand new bikes, most everything is preassembled.
I guess I assumed the lines are air-free.
Does this describe the noise a line that needs to be bled would make?

Not really... the sound you describe is a bit unusual. I would visit the LBS.

On one of my Pace 500, I too had wierd braking sounds right from the start. I replaced the OEM pads with new ones from Amazon. 4 sets were like $15.00. Five minute easy install. After quick breakin, I had new quiet brakes.

My first guess is pad noise. I'd suggest lightly sanding the pads and then cleaning the pads and rotors with alcohol. Then move on to 'bedding in' the brake pads before resorting to changing them out. This article is a decent summary of this technique; https://www.bikeradar.com/advice/workshop/how-to-bed-in-new-disc-brake-pads/ . There are also a number of videos covering this.
