Unintended action of riding a ST2

I have noticed recently while I am in city traffic I am often moving faster or as fast as city traffic. What I notice is despite the fact I am going as fast if not faster than the car in front of me people coming up behind me often have this attitude like I "must" pass this bike. Even to the point where they will almost rear end the car in front of me trying to pass me.

I saw that today where I was doing 32 down hill in a 25 and the traffic in front of me was slowing for a stop sign so I was catching the traffic. A car came from behind me and gunned it to pass me and he managed to do so but almost smashed into the car in from of me in the process.

It gives me a whole new perspective on when I am driving and passing bikes. You get so intent on passing the bike you can easily rear end the car in front of the bike.

People aren't used to fast bicycles. I've always(and still do) try to get around bicycle asap when driving.
On my st2, if I see someone behind getting anxious, or I feel like I might be getting squeezed, I just move left, take the whole lane, and move back to shoulder when everything looks safe.

Hopefully ebikes become a larger part of our culture here in America and people will start to recognize bikes going as fast if not faster than city traffic.
