China makes about 55% of the world's lithium ion batteries, and 2 out of every 3 electric bikes made in the world. It might be the perfect time to buy. Just before any retaliation from China starts after the steel/aluminum, and today's announcement of up to $60 billion of tariffs on Chinese made products. It could also mean a higher market price on US made batteries. He also promised more tariffs in the future. Just a thought for those on the fence about a purchase!

It will extend beyond the batteries and hit the overall the cost of doing business and importing products. Once all the tit for tat is tallied I imagine a lot of things will get more expensive. Probably my beloved German bikes will be 20% more expensive in another year as will other imports. Then the domestics will be able to raise their prices... and the battery related costs were probably headed up without the tariffs just due to excessive demand...
