Tire swap to a smaller tire on a colt

Hello, my first post. I purchased a 2018 Surface 604 colt, I must say I love it. I would like to know if I could put a 26x1.75 tire on it? I don't know enough about bikes or tires sizes to go ahead with the tire purchase.

I don't see a problem with those tires. They should fit fine.
On the rear derailleur, any Shimano MTB 9 speed derailleur should work. But why waste money? The Altus works just fine. But if you still want to do it I would just go one up to Deore. Just make sure it is the 9-speed version.
