Thudbuster and Como Installation

I got a Thudbuster ST for my Como. I see the wire for the light runs through the old seatpost. I can remove the light from the seat but can’t figure out how to get it out of the original seatpost. Then I don’t see what do do with it once I install the thudbuster post. Any suggestions
