I’m missing my rides while trying to heal my ribs. I may get on it today just to go for a very easy, short ride.
That is my plan. Been practicing tai chi for decades ( I got too old and beat up for conventional martial arts) ...bikes work different muscles...or same muscles in different ways...I mix it up. I ride to the park, do tai chi for an hour then ride some more.
I do my tai chi form [Yang family] after my ride.I mix it up. I ride to the park, do tai chi for an hour then ride some more.
I do also practice Yang style. Started with Chang Man Ching's "Crane style" in the 80s or 90s, took some traditional Yang long form style and learned the basics of Yangia Michuan "Snake style" in London 5 years back. I've taught a few "senior citizens" classes where doing the short form correctly seemed important, but mostly work out with an old akido guy who is almost as beat up as I am, and we just do whatever strikes us. Often just work on one or two moves for a hour and go for coffee. The coffee gets the heart rate up ...I do my tai chi form [Yang family] after my ride.
We are so far off topic that we should discuss Tai chi in an off topic thread ... maybe other exercises? or should it be just TaiChi Qigong?Actually in the middle of doing taichi right now. Eleven year journey that started with the Yang 24 but my bad form kept me reinjuring my knee. I learned Northern Wu style (I am listed in a book somewhere in Beijing I was told), and added Chen Man Ching Yang style, and Chen Xiao Jia (small frame), both of which I am an assistant instructor. My base art is Shaolin Northern Dragon (20 yrs), hence Sifu Ben. Still on the quest to be any good. Biking is great rehab for my middle aged knees!
Really after an hour on the bike, my legs are done. Time to look for a pub, or at least a shady spot and water.Love it! Always ride for >60 minutes so you can go to the local pub mentioned in Step 7.
