Jeremy and his little Hot water gremlin, decided to visit me, now it's a wood stove gremlin. It cause all kinds of hate and discontent, took both the horizontal blowers out, bronze bearings on each ends are shot.

They must think these blowers are made of Gold, between $300-500 for 2.
I am going to just replace the bearings, if I can find them, It's going to be a 3 dog night around here, 16* or lower, I have a temporary box fan set up so we can still use the wood stove.

I have gotten my money's use, bought it in Aug 2013 and have no problems what so ever, it is Quadra Fire, Step Top largest model to heat 3000+ sq ft.

I am going to toss this gremlin back at Jeremy, I don't want him any more. lol

Sorry to hear they got to your wood stove.

Didn't you get a new bike recently? Maybe that's their MO — leave you on Cloud 9 with a new ride and then take out a pricey home appliance to remind you who's boss.
;^}

I've had the same problem with motors on my coal stove. They can also be >$300 each. In my case, I was able to separate the motors from the mechanisms they power, and find a generic replacement on line for MUCH less. Many stove makers use "standard" motors which can be sourced elsewhere.

Never tried replacing just the bearings though. Keep us posted on how you make out.

On a related note, I fixed my noisy fridge fan motor,..

It turned out that the felt feeding oil to the sintered metal bushing had dried out, then the axle seized in the bushing and the bushing started to spin.

I polished the blue glazing off the axle shaft, reoiled the felt and got it going again,..

I was too nervous to attempt to fix it for fear of breaking something and all my food would rot while I waited for a new motor to arrive, so I bought and installed a new motor first. Now I have a spare for next time.

Most people buy a new fridge when it stops working.
The new motor was ~$40

I ended up breaking a bunch of clips off the ductwork trying to get to the fan motor.
You never know how the clips operate until you break a few off to investigate. 😂

I replaced the bearings on a small 120V air compressor before.
It turned out to use standard skateboard wheel bearings, so I could install fancy ABEC 11 bearings that I had on hand. 😂
