Now that the model 3 is $35k (before rebates) , should one consider 7 of the Elavate's instead, at $5k a pop ?

Well this isn't even a close call.

Even if I had a family of 7.

2 or 3 would just have to walk. Or find some cheap $50 bikes.

Lol.

We found the wife a new compact car for $16800 last year: with A/C, a heater, and FM radio. She doesn't drive that much, and I don't drive at all, except rental trucks. I haven't owned a mobile car for 11 years. So Teslas can cost $135000 as far as I care.
After I received a 26" bike age 10, I rode the bike, walked or rode the bus everywhere. Mother worked, she didn't run a taxi service. I can't believe all the cars lined up outside the elementary school at closing time.

I hate cars, but they're a part of my life that is hard to escape where I live. Public transport is close to non existent, and I need to carry equipment quickly as part of my job - so the ebike just doesn't cut it for work.

I've been driving a manual everything clunker for the past 21 years , and for the past 5 have been holding out waiting for a reasonably priced electric vehicle that would suit my needs. It " needs" 4x4 capability for our lifestyle ( and to get up my drive after rain...) , plus be capable of towing a couple of tones of boat / camper for a few thousand k's every couple of months - or at least be capable of pulling that couple of tones of boat out of the water at the mast up storage facility every week.... Yes, that $500 car was towing $20 k of boat and often had another $10 k of bikes in the tray....did I mention I hate cars?

I gave up waiting 3 weeks ago and sunk that sort of $ into a new ute . So don't I feel stupid right now.

I've had a Model S for 3-1/2 years now. Great car - smooth, quiet, almost zero maintenance. So used to the electric charging thing that when I go to a gas station is seems so archaic! The Tesla is fun, but I like my ebikes better since there is really more freedom and the health and exercise benefits.

I've had a P85 for 7 years and a Model 3 for one year. My wife drives the 3 and I drive the S. But when she's not in the 3 I take it every time. It is by far the more fun car to drive. More efficient. Quick. Nimble. Simple to park. The Model S is a boat compared to it.

I would never trade our Teslas and will drive them both into the ground. The P85 is 7 years old and is still beautiful. Runs like a Swiss watch. In 7 years of driving it has lost somewhere around 2-3% of its original battery capacity. At this rate I'll still have 90% of its range when it is 20 years old.

Unbelievably I still have another year of warranty on the battery and the motor.

I would highly recommend anybody to get the $35K Model 3. I seldom use the autopilot. TACC a little bit. The base model is fine.
