I've had a Surface 604 since April 2016 and have put 950 miles on it so far...
I did order the front shock. Shock was back ordered, so the first 400 miles were with rigid front end.
My counsel is to spend the $400 and get the front shock. Suspension was a noticeable difference...
I also added a Thud Buster seat post. Again I feel the upgraded seat post was money well spent.
I also upgraded the seat to Serface padded seat...
Also changed the handle bars to a more upright swept back postion as well as 3 inch risers.
Note: Handel bar upgrade required all new cables...
I did not purchase the optional front and rear racks. I purchased a rear Topeak rack pannier/saddle bag system. Very pleased with the Topeak system...
Also installed a Dave Gary front mud flap. Also added rechargeable front and rear led lights...
I am a 60 old novice rider with some disabilities. My back and neck have been fused...
I also have a 1986 Bianchi 18 speed hybrid bike with many many miles over the 30 years...
I also have a ProdecoTech Outlaw SS that I put 1,700 miles on.
My wife has a ProdecoTech Oasis Beach cruiser, that I've ridden 200 miles on...
Both bikes have BMS torque sensor pedal assist, as well as stock throttle...
I do not have anything bad to say about ProdecoTech bicycles...
I absolutely love the 604 Fat Bike!
I wondered if pedal assist only, and not having a throttle would be an issue? I do not miss the throttle at all.
I prefer the Surface 604 - 350 watt geared rear hub motor to the 750 watt rear ProdecoTech rear hub motor.
The 604 is also more agile/nimble and balanced than the ProdecoTech bikes...
Bianchi bike is a bit more agile and of course lighter...
I also prefer the 604 trigger shifters over the twist shifting. The 604 pedal assist is far superior and responsive than the BMS torque sensing...
I have done several 35 mile rides and two 40 mile rides on my 604. On level two assist, normal riding conditions, wind hills ect, all on pavement or crushed rock bike trails. The battery never dropped below
40%. Off road through grass mud and climbing small hills the battery usage is noticeably faster...
I truly am surprised by the battery life of the 13 amp hour battery...
I am not embellishing the battery mileage!
I have not done any real hill climbing but in my novice opinion, the 604 would underperform.
The Surface 604 is also a very stealthy bicycle. It is difficult to tell its a E Bike!

I have never reviewed any other bikes or products of any kind... I am just a very satisfied customer...
The only two problems I've had with the 604,
1> I broke the battery on-off switch witch seamed a bit flimsy. A new switch was quickly sent out and may have broken due to me being a bit rough turning it on and off...
2> The rims have the normal cut outs revealing the tube to cut down on weight, I guess?
The problem I had was in my opinion a design flaw. The spokes are to close to the cut out.
I did have a small fracture on the rim next to the spoke. Eventually if not repaired the spoke would likely have pulled out.
My dealer contacted Surface 604 and they immediately sent out an entire rear wheel.
I got the new rim, tire and motor and the dealer got to keep the old rim, motor and tire! Wow!!
In conclusion, I would recommend the 604 to family and friends...
