No doubt, this is tough. It was already announced here, nevertheless, I'll add a few words. I'm I Stromer owner since the very first days. At the beginning, no dealer was in my region - and my Stromer needed often support. Taking one day off, putting the Stromer in the trunk for a ride to Thömus was the procedure.
Meanwhile, the Stromer are very much more reliable. The farmost of them never ever have an real issue. But with this announcement, I fear, there will be no more Stromer mechanic soon or later. And as a Stromer contains many Stromer-made parts, being without support is no way to go. My recommendation is: Drop by it at your LBS and remember the store that you're a valuable customer.
Stromer will not run out of money, but the after the virus-panic-crisis hurts them. It was impossible to get rid of Desiknio, so they chose to sut down the US market instead. Co-CEO Tomi Viiala, former head of marketing, has already left the company. Therefore, Stromer is now lead by Karl Ludwig Kley only, the former head of finance. Read the words from Stromer itself:
Stromer discontinues USA/Canada business
Oberwangen (Switzerland) / Vista (USA), 18.11.2024 - myStromer AG announces that it will discontinue its business in the USA and Canada with immediate effect.
Considering the current challenges in the bicycle industry and a significantly slower development of the North American market, the company has decided to take this step. Despite intensive efforts, a transfer of the business to a specialized distributor could not be realized. Nevertheless, myStromer AG remains confident and focused on its further international expansion plans and the continuous development of its product portfolio.
Stromer and Desiknio bikes will no longer be delivered to the USA and Canada. Existing retail partners will be able to process warranties as well as orders for spare parts and components via the Swiss headquarters from November 16th, 2024, onwards. Stromer Partners will receive competent dealer support via the Stromer Portal ticketing system at headquarters. Retailer support for Desiknio can be done as usual through the distributor Quality Bicycle Products QBP. End customers will continue to be able to contact their usual Stromer or Desiknio dealer for service and warranty cases. Towards end customers, both the dealers, Stromer and Desiknio will continue to honour their warranty commitments.
“Despite our continuous efforts to optimize our business processes in the USA and to strengthen our market presence, we regret having to take this unavoidable step“, explains Stromer CEO Karl Ludwig Kley.
In 2011, Stromer was already in the US and by chance, a famous actor and his girlfriend were caught riding a Stromer.
