Software Update ... no speed after

So I just picked up my bike from the dealer - it was supposed to address the startup issue - which it seems it did. But now the bike cuts off at about 16mph ... big time JOKE!

I will take it back tomorrow - but would like to speculate on what could have gone wrong in the meantime. Doubt the firmware limits us to 16mph all of the sudden.

I know I saw some screenshots of the configuration software here, is there a max speed setting that the tech could have overridden by accident?

and I just verified that the throttle mode is gone as well ...

The top speed is a parameter in the setup. It needs to change from 25 km/h to 45 km/h.

wait - so can it be bumped to say 60km/h? or is it capped at the governed limit?

45km/h is the speed pedelec speed of 28mph that is also allowed in Europe if your bike is registered and insured - I don't think they allow the bikes past that speed in the programming.

So do all bikes that list the 28mph have a limiter on them? I ask the question as I have an Izip Express, but, I am fairly sure that when capable from weight loss/shape increase, that I could go past it.

There isn't a limiter on the speed of the bike, but the motor will shut off if that is what the company has made it to do. The only real way to get a bike that goes faster is to make one yourself.

No..I think the configuration choices that can be set by the diagnostic cable and software are limited to 25 km/h (16 mph - European unlicensed pedelec), 32km/h (20 mph - American Class 1 pedelec), or 45 km/h (28 mph - Class 3 or Speed Pedelec). There is no "Class 2" operation of the Turbo's since there is no true throttle and the limited throttle capability is limited to 20 kmh (12 mph).

If your dealer flashed the firmware, they should be able to reset the max speed parameter to the correct one for our your location.

Though they say its top speed is 28MPH, my 2015 IZIP E3 Dash continues to provide motor assistance up to 34MPH (if you can get it going that fast, that is!).

OK, that is more what I thought. The Express has zero speed information that I can see going to the "black box", so, I don't know how the bike could govern. The belt driven hub has three speeds and no electrical connection, so, it couldn't use motor shaft rpm and that is its only connection.
