They could be onto a big new emerging market here in the US.

No, this is not a pedal bike.

Traditional Dirt bike riders would likely find the no noise aspect appealing, since they typically get run off to faraway venues that aren't near communities that don't want the loud motors. No gas, either, no grease, or oil.

Much higher torque, means more challenging courses could be developed.

They obviously aren't the only player, as Kawasaki is rumored to be getting in soon.

Supposedly coming to Indiegogo Nov 25th.

Segway-Ninebot is the largest shareholder in Sur-Ron. Thus Luna is no longer exclusive distributor for the US of a 'sur ron' as they liked to claim. Segway-Ninebot dwarfs Luna in terms of marketing reach and financial viability anyway. Electrek explains the relationship though and indicated Sur Ron's 'light bee' was the first cooperation between the two firms. The light bee has been sold in 32 countries and more than 10,000 sets of them. This new model has some new features on what in essence is the light bee. Effectively Segways large cash injection helped SurRon develop a better product, The light bee, and re-engineer it to make greater improvements on weak points of the light bee, and introduce the 2 new models which are on the light bee platform, the X160 and X260. Just paraphrasing from the Electrek article dated Nov 5th. Link is electric.co/2019/11/05/segway-unveils-electric-dirt-bike-sur-ron/ . So apparently they did explain its not just a re-badged sur Ron.

This is sweet! Give some direct compo to the KTM Freeride Electric Motorcycles.

If that's the case people will pick the cheaper option.

... and regret it. sigh. luckily we're doing ASI4000 upgrade kits for the Sur-Ron and Segway X260 https://www.crowdsupply.com/teznic/suronda/

So apparently they did explain its not just a re-badged sur Ron

it's a rebadged Sur-Ron X.

they're now one of around four or five re-badgings around the world, including one in India and one in Africa. the "upgrades" that Segway are doing are an "integrated app". there's no actual significant *mechanical* difference.

the "kid's" bike is the old stock that Sur-Ron couldn't shift, with the 19in rims replaced with 17in. this is actually a really good idea and a good deal: it's the same frame and swing-arm so could be upgraded later as your child grows, without throwing out the whole bike.

the X260 is with the newer Sur-Ron X Controller, which as people know "launches" ok but the power tails off pretty much immediately, despite it being a 20 to 25% upgrade over the older Controller.

we love the Sur-Ron, it's literally carved out an entirely new class of its own: half-way between an eMTB and an off-road gasoline dirt-bike. so we're doing some major upgrades for it. 110 km/h, we're calling it "Teznic Nitro" :)
