I took ownership of my SDURO 3 on Thursday. On passing it to me the assistant says "here is the Beast", maybe he hadn't sold an "XL" HAIBIKE before. I selected the model because of the reviews in general regarding Haibike and its components (thanks to this website) and obviously it suited my requirements, I commute 25k each way to work with a drop of 75 metres to the city centre and a climb of 85 metres along the way to the other side of Dublin, Ireland. I tried several times on a regular bike, but I perspired too much and was pretty knackered afterwards. The bike cost me €2,599 euro. The government contributed 540 to that. I reckon if I use it 4 days a week for a year I'll get a return on investment as opposed to using my car. +++ plus I love cycling + I'll achieve a certain level of fitness & mental health which I do not get from driving. Also the car can take up to 45 minutes to get to work. The Haibike takes me 65 minutes.

My first return journey was last Friday. It was no bother to me at all. The standard saddle is surprisingly uncomfortable. The speed restriction is a bit annoying. I found though the best mental way is to sit back and work within the confines of the technology. One other concern is the security of the bike, I do not see myself stopping off anywhere for a coffee or a pint as I'd be concerned about the bike.

BTW I'm male, born in 1955, married with two teenagers, live in Dublin, Ireland. I work as an ERP & I.T. Manager.

OK. So I have the Bike now since the 11th April. I've cycled 9 days to & from work, round trip of 50 KMs. Why only 9 days.. I took a family break to the West of Ireland on the Wild Atlantic way, and I need a day each week to bring fresh clothes & lunches to work for a week.
The saddle is extremely uncomfortable .. I'd say in another week I'll be fine.
The bell that came with the bike no longer works.
I'm concerned that when I'm in the highest assistance mode in the highest gear that the bikes feels and make a noise like its changing gear itself... I'll talk to the bike shop about that. Is it something to do with eMTB mode?

The roads and cycle lanes are pretty crap... bumps, uneven surfaces etc.

However I'm enjoying it.. its empowering! It puts me in touch with society again, rather than sitting in my car commuting and stressed heavy traffic listening to how bad the world is out there!

Nice write-up. I always replace stock bicycle bells with Spurcycle bells. They offer the loudest, clearest chime in the most compact package that I've been able to find. https://www.spurcycle.com/

I don't think that would be an eMTB symptom because you write that you are riding in Turbo mode. eMTB should be active in what would have been Sport mode. On some bikes I've ridden they seem to ride a bit rough when on the innermost or outermost chain ring. Maybe it is just a derailleur adjustment issue? Hope your local shop can diagnose it.

So here I am again, I have had the bike for 4 months now. I've cycled about 2,200 Kms. This equates to 60% of travel to work & back. The other days I needed to take the car.I left it in for its 1st service. I've been told it needs a new chain and cassette... €160 please !!! wasn't expecting that. I did a bit of research and sure enough Mr. Google reports between 2000 & 3000 miles an e bike requires the chain to be replaced. The bike engineer said that the standard make of chain that comes with the bike is not great. This along with the saddle & the bell. I also got two punctures ...the standard tyres don't seem to be too good either. I need to buy more durable puncture tyres.
Apart from taht I love cycling. I needed to get the bus home the other day in rush hour... GOD give me a bicycle anyday.

My wife wants to begin cycling in now.

I'll write a post when I get the bike back from service.

I've replaced 2 chains on my Haibike Xduro (2017) but it was at my discretion and I replaced them early. I have about 2,000 miles so I'm replacing at about 1,000 miles.But I commute on several bikes so 1,000 miles equates to a year's riding. I'm changing early because I'm just paranoid about breaking a chain in the middle of my commute which might leave me stranded in a dicey part of town. At the last chain replacement, they told me the cassettes were still in good shape. I think the stock chain on mine was a Shimano and it still had life left at the first replacement. But I went with the KMC e-bike rated chains for the replacements. I've had no flats with the Super Moto X tires that came stock on the bike (and on 2 other bikes I own). We're your punctures from glass? Thorns? Last week I got a flat on my regular bike. A few days prior, I had tested my CO2 inflator. Next day, I released the CO2 and replaced with air. A few days later, totally flat. I pulled the tire off the rim and the rim tape had moved and one of the spoke holes was exposed. Sure enough, there was a hole in the tube right down the center on the interior. And I found nothing sticking through the tire so I'm sure it was due to the misaligned rim tape. First flat I've had in years on any bike (city riding only).

I have a 2016 XDURO Full Seven S RX and 2016 XDURO Trekking S RX. Both speed pedelecs. Changed the chains at 2,500 miles on both. Still on original brake pads and cassettes. I'm very happy with the stock saddles and Schwalbe tires on both. 2,800 miles on the Full Seven, 2,900 miles on the Trekking.

What caused your flats?
I went tubeless with Stans sealant because of the thorns here.

The puncture was caused by glass. Back between 2007 & 2010 I cycled to work.
I just had one puncture, I was using Schawble Marathon tyres.

December 31st 2019.
Just checking in. No major updates. I changed my tyres to Schwalbe Marathon plus,so far so good. The weather in Dublin since October has been pretty wet and windy. I came off the bike once, totally my fault, no problems with the bike or me, just damaged pride.
I'm off work for the Christmas period, so I've taken to cycling around my locality each morning which has been great.

The bike .. I'd recommend it to any one.

Just found your thread. Oh, I wish my government contributed something to my e-bikes... It looks it can be done in Ireland, why not in Poland?
Regarding the weather, I share your experience. Strong winds put me off the saddle for awhile but I'll be back!

13th April,2020. Ireland has been in COVID-19 lock down since St.Patrick's day. I hope everyone is keeping safe & well. So our Government has restricted our movements to a radius of 2kms from home. This restriction along with a frosty/icy winter & very strong winds has curtailed my ambition to cycle to work until I retire (August 2020). My job is in a pharmaceutical company so its open as its seen as essential. I can work from home as I have a daughter whose immune system is compromised, so I cannot take any chances in bringing the virus into my home.
So what of my cycling and the SDURO ... I would recommend it to anyone ..no problem. The front disk brakes are very noisy so I presume they require replacing. Also now I use ECO mode on the bike rather than touring... I suppose I'm getting fitter.
In reply to Stefan Mikes post about Government contributions... Why not talk with your local Government representative, I'm sure there is plenty of "papers" discussing the benefits to the economy and the population.
