Replacement Handle Bars Help!

Hey all,

Very excited to receive my XP soon! Still probably 6 weeks away 🧐

Anyhoo, as most people have been doing, I’ve been collecting parts in preparation for delivery. Bought the 11-28t nickel plated freewheel, semi-metallic disc brake pads, black vinyl wrap, AND a Velo Orange Klunker Bar. All from the recommendations from you lovely people 😍

HOWEVER I received the Klunker Bar and I’m not totally sold. I have never ridden with swing back bars before, and am concerned I’m not going to get as much control as from a straight bar.

My only requirement is control. I mostly road ride, but do some heavy trails. Comfort is not an issue but a bonus, and bar space for mounting is also a bonus.

What are your thoughts on swing/sway back bars? And what is the consensus on the best bar upgrade for the XP?

Cheers folks.

Ive got the Klunker handlebars and although they take a minute to adjust to the new positioning, the control is just as good if not better because of the grip you can get on the swept bars.

I have no regrets in getting those bars and I wish I would have done it sooner to be honest.

Ok great! Definitely gives me a bit more confidence! I bought them initially because of your post 😉

Ill admit I did also have first doubts when I got them in and the swept bars were at such a angle which I had never really ridden with before. But after adjusting to them after the first few minutes of getting to know how they turn and such, its been a pleasure everytime I ride. Ive already gotten a few comments about the bars so I guess they are looking good :)

Ok Ok jeeze, I’ll keep the damn bars 😁 yeah they look very slick which is what drew me to them. And thanks for clearing up my verbiage! I see they are swept bars now I searched for them!

Of course!

Main control cable looks tighter than stock, ...can you still lift steering tube w.bars out
completely for folding/transport?

The cables are a bit stetched but you dont need to lift the steering tube out for folding...you can just undo the lever and it flips to the side.

I do both,... keeps everything inside the tote that I put the bike in. Nothing hanging over the sides to get hurt.

So, ..can/can't I do it with the cable "a bit stretched"?

Bwaha I realize I must sound like a salesman but I really do like em that much :p
Ok. Everyone should have these bars. Sitting back and cruising is a dream, but standing up and stamping on those pedals getting up to 28mph still feels awesome, no loss of control at all.

GREAT recommendation, thank you.
