I just passed the 600 mile mark on my new Pedego Platinum Interceptor. I really like the bike but it has one annoying problem. I ride mostly dirt, sand & packed gravel rail trails. Since the bike has no fenders, the bottom of the battery case gets plastered with debris thrown up by the rear tire. The Pedego models affected are the Interceptor (without fender option), Platinum Interceptor, Boomerang Plus, Comfort Cruiser and Tandem. The problem may also occur with the Ford Super Cruiser due to it's short fender.
The debris covers the fuse socket & charge port and also works it's way between the case and battery making removal difficult. I'm not a fan of fenders for a variety of reasons so Instead I made up this simple $6 shield from a piece of plastic.

To install, remove the two rear battery case mounting screws and remove the large washers. Leave the small lock washers in place. Reinstall the screws through the holes in the shield making sure they are flush with the housing floor and do not protrude into the battery housing.
It isn't perfect but it keeps about 90% of the debris off the battery.
