Price Increases?

Has anyone else noticed recent price increases? I went on the Riese and Mueller website yesterday and saw that my bike has gone up from ~4400 to ~4800. Glad I bought it a few months ago. I thought the tariffs applied to Chinese bikes and parts? I may be wrong, but I don't think R&M has many, if any Chinese parts. Perhaps what I saw was an annual price increase.

Anyone else seen this on other brands?

It's rare to see any of the prices go down. Pricing directly to the Chinese tariff or not, commodity prices have gone up and the market on steel and aluminum is very volatile.

I may be wrong, but I don't think R&M has many, if any Chinese parts.

The use several Chinese/Taiwan made parts i.e., SR Suntour suspension, Shimano derailleurs, Shimano brakes, Ergon grips, the Bosch charger is assembled in China (battery in Poland or Germany), seats/saddle, Alex rims (MD 30 and MD 40), novotec hubs.

Except the battery and motor, you can trace the source of even frames to Asian countries. This is true for several manufacturers like Trek, Giant, Haibike etc.

There was 10% increase on many ebike brands due to tariffs.
Don't fool yourself, China has been successfully creeping on most manufacturing sectors for years. I recall reading that Bosch was moving their battery manufacturing to China too.

I remember some time ago being so surprised by how much of a Boeing airplane is made abroad. These days a brand’s country of origin can relate little to where its products are made and so many complex products have internationally-sourced components ... it would be interesting to see a breakdown for a particular product but I can see how doing so would be pretty difficult and impractical...

Would be interesting to know how, from a tariff perspective, they decide an item's country of origin.

And yes, it's tough to find anything made in the USA. A friend from China was visiting and he wanted to find US made items to bring back to China. Since he is a tight wad, I took him to Target and we could not find small, cheap items with the Made in USA logo. Any of you folks over 50 must certainly remember how ubiquitous that used to be in the 60's.

Speaking of ebikes in particular, his tariff won't achieve anything. Partly it will be absorbed by consumers, partly by the US companies designing and selling ebikes, and partly by trimming Chinese factory profits.
The plan (I think) was to make the US manufacturing more competitive. But for this to happen, prices should triple and quadruple, because Chinese labor is so much cheaper. And even then, ebikes manufacturing in the US doesn't exist. This item was just caught in the crossfire, a collateral damage.

Pedego raised their prices 10% a week ago. Glad I bought when I did.

I wonder if dealers mark up on-hand stock purchased at old prices as soon as manufacturers release the price increase.

Last time I checked with my LBS a few days ago, they had not raised prices on their in-stock inventory.

I looked and found a deal better than I did in June. Maybe I shouldn't have looked lol. I paid 1550 each for 2 of the Sedona 48v models. They have been fantastic bikes and we have over 700 miles so far! Here is an outstanding sale price!
