Hi Court,
I’m 54 and looking for a bike to help avoid parking and traffic issues and also not avoid fun. I’ve always enjoyed recreational riding (5-30mi rides) on our flatter roads and trails but our topography and rain kept it to that but I would like to start commuting for work and around town (under 10 miles) in fair weather. I like classic bikes and modern touring city hybrids. I want to feel like I’m riding a regular bike and get athletic benefit (if I want) without being killed going up our VERY LONG or steep hills. I’m 6’ 155lb.
I’m considering the following (from prettiest to handsomest):
Vintage Electric Cafe (local $3500), specialized Como 4 (local $3350), Trek Allant 8 (local msrp), and OHM Discover (online but local-ish).
Any differences between living with these bikes I should be thinking about? Will the highest level assist on hills lead to perspiration or heavy sweat? Other thoughts?
Ron
