BRAIN reports further consolidation in the bike market as Dutch company Pon Holdings came to an agreement with Canadian company Dorel Industries. As the article describes: "Dorel Sports' bike brands are Cannondale, Schwinn, Mongoose, GT, Charge, Caloi, and KidTrax. Pon.Bike's brands are Gazelle, Kalkhoff, Focus, Santa Cruz, Cervélo, Swapfiets, Urban Arrow, BBB Cycling, Lease a Bike, Union, Reserve Wheels, and Juliana." These brands are now brought under the same ownership.

Very interesting. Good eye. As you know they recently purchased Greater Bay Area retail powerhouse Mike's Bikes and Specialized retaliated, leaving customers with pre-orders in a lurch. I just spoke with the GM of one location. The company is very happy with Pon. Dorel also has a lower tier brand Pacific Bicycles which makes a lot of kids bikes and big box retail starter bikes. Santa Cruz is the umbrella for Juliana and Reserve. And under Pon they still make decisions in Sant Cruz, California.
Here is a $329 Pacific at Walmart. You may laugh at these bikes but think of market size.
