NY/NJ Ebike Stores

Hi. I’m having difficulty finding bike shops in the New York /New Jersey area that stock ebikes to test drive. Can anyone recommend a store? The brands on my list to test drive are: Giant, Trek, Specialized, Gazelle. Thanks for your help.

I HIGHLY recommend you go to Slick eCycles in Tarrytown. Ed, the owner, is super. The store is beautiful and he took me on a great ride around town, on dirt roads and trails. I never felt rushed or that he would be happier elsewhere. I bought my bike there even though it was an hour away rather than at a store five minutes ride away because I felt that the experience (and the service) was going to be a lot better and it was.

Pretty sure Propel (Brooklyn) carries Gazelle but I’d call first to see what’s in stock.

Oh gosh, I just noticed your mention of brands. I don’t think he carries any of those. Sorry. You can check his web site though.

I test rode many brands before buying. Unless you're brand loyal, don't limit yourself to just a few. They all do pretty much the same thing. You can always decide on the bells & whistles later.

Visit as many shops as you can. Talk to the knowledgeable staffers and get a feel for their quality of service. Who knows, a brand you never heard of might be the best "fit".

Yes, it sounds like you want a brand that’s more bike, less Kickstarter-derived electric moped. Try Yamaha, which they have at Sleek Cycles. I bought a Wabash.
