Not 'the best' light, but...

(edit: I received a refund for this light today; it turns out to be obsolete (at least from FastTech). I would very much appreciate any other suggestions on double or triple XML2 (or better) lights with clamps.

I like the idea of wired in lighting for my soon to be delivered Dash...yet am worried about the drawdown at 1600 lumens (or more)...due to the fact that I am a certified flashaholic.



Please feel free to hijack this thread with your budget, high priced, wired/unwired lights or headlamps.

Just an opinion, for me brighter isn't always better. Because I won't be trail riding I went with the $46 Cygolite Metro 360 and it is way bright enough for me and I don't really like a remote battery pack. But, that light is going to look very cool on your Dash.

I think the case could be made that on features alone ('un-annoying' strobing, side light, etc.) the 360 could be a better value.

Pretty cool looking light! Double lights stand out so much more than single lights. That will catch the attention of car drivers.

DashRiprock, I have the Cygolite Metro 360 and it's a pretty neat little light. However, after seeing your lights I've been looking at some of the double lights offered. Since my primary concern is daytime visibility, I'm giving some thought to get one of these high powered lights with strobe capability for the rear. My thought is to add red lenses and have a 1600 lumen rear light.

Amazon has a red lense where they talk about using a headlight for a tail light. I have a Portland Design Works Danger Zone and although it looks great in the shade, it can hardly be seen in daylight. Wouldn't it be great to have lights like you have with red lenses for rear visibility in the sunshine. Obviously, they couldn't be used at night time unless there was a dimmed setting.

I don't know why one couldn't rig up an AA powered light such as the Zebralight headlamp with the latest LED (compact/angled) to the lens that you have there and then to the rear of the bike...and call it a day. You'd have a decent backup headlamp with but a few extra AAs in tow...yet I'm not sure how many strobe options the UI holds (at least one selection that I know of would grab folk's attention for certain).
Kind of jury rigged...but that just be me thanks to you! (maybe disguising the battery won't look so suspicous if something else equally as ridiculous draws attention away from it..).

Unfortunately, that zebralight is only 260 lumens. I think I would want a light as bright as my Cygolite Metro 360 which is 700 lumens.
I held a red lens up to my flashing Metro 360 and it looked so much better than my PDW Danger Zone.
Anyway, something for me to research and think about.
The more I look at your dual light the more I like it. I bet it will be great a night time.

I ordered your lens along with the (by now I'm assuming) standard Planet Bike version that I have one of already. I use them as backup trailer lights as well. My thought was to see what a few hundred lumens of flooded light did through your lens and to see what happens when you put the PB light next to that possibly blinking on a different frequency (your dual light being easier to see theory).

We'll see what happens but I say 700-1600 lumens will always be better.
