Newbie intro😉

Just a quick introduction. I live in the North West of England near Chester & ride Road & Mountain Bikes (mainly MTB). Riding the trails of the UK & the mountains of Europe is my thing & has been since the inception of MTB to the world in the very early eighties.
Though I mainly ride calorie powered bikes, I bought into the e-bike thing two & half years ago (to scratch an itch). Result, super fun way to pedal. My current e-bike is a Vitus E-Sommet VRS running a Shimano E8000 motor. Like many other’s I’m fretting about the dreaded e010 error code raising it’s head after two of my friends have just suffered this fate

What pray tell is the e010 code, & why should I dread it when there are so many dreadful
things happening. After all, man does not live by dread alone.

I’m probably just being paranoid but having had 2 friends recently suffer this error code which has resulted in them both requiring new motors on bikes which are 2years and younger! One of which was resolved, the other didn’t & was then fitted with a new battery & harness. Researching has failed to produce any definitive answers from dealers or Shimano as to the cause & resolution. I suspect it to be more likely linked to connection & high resistance issues. It seems crazy that a motor can be written off at the drop of a hat?

I´m pleased at having bought a cheap e-mtn bike. 4300 mi. & the only real issue was the cheap stock
tires. I could buy 5 of ´em for the price of a Riese Muller. It climbs anything, great range, 25 mph,
& parts are generic instead of model specific. If I break it, I´ll just get another one.
