New Rover “Limited Edition”

I see Rad is releasing a new “limited edition” Rover. The only difference seems to be the colour, which looks like the same green as the Rad Runner.

I felt disappointed that the video promoting the bike is a guy going bow hunting in the woods. I guess I had thought of Rad as an ethical, progressive West Coast company that cares about the natural environment, which includes animals. In my belief, hunting does not fit with that ethos. Why not, say, a video showing someone gliding quietly through the woods, getting close to animals and photographing them?

In car world that signals end of the model line. Look for a new spec radrover next year. I hope they invest a little in a controller with user-programmable lower power settings. And one that remembers its PAS and light and trip odometer settings between on cycles.

Better a bike than a dino-burning quad. Though I don't know how you bring the deer home on a bike. Does it come with a trailer hitch? I'm not bothered by the idea of bow-hunters hunting deer, it's not like they're shooting condors or leaving lead pellets in scavenger-bait carcasses.

I had the same thought. Though I don't necessarily fault RPB for trying to maximize their sales/reach -- and doubt that they are specifically targeting sports hunters with this color option (after all, they sell the RadRunner in this color). At the same time, I don't quite understand why (say) black versus forest green would give an ebike hunter some sort of unique competitive advantage???

I would think Rad would make the limited Ed. rover with upgraded brakes, lights, rack(s), color LCD screen, tires, rims, or even gearing? Rad can make the upgrades standard or at their cost to add the upgrades. Offer an extra 6-12 months of warranty and toss in a handle bar mounted GPS tracker for the first 100 orders.

It would be funny a bow hunter lost their limited Ed. rover in the woods because of the forest green color.

Salsa Cycles has offered a similar color on their Mukluk fat bikes. There have been minor shade and name adjustments over the years, mine was called "You Can't See Me Green", and I've lost it at least three times (kind of like losing ones car in a parking lot, which I also do). Most people just call it Exorcist Pea Soup Puke Green.

Its funny you mention the end of the line lolllll i asked rad power bikes if they intended to add color for the rad mini 4 next year they wouldn't comment,i said to someone that the mission will become the new city bike lolllll everything will come in base models, with tons of extras

I have nothing against law abiding hunters. It's not for me, but I'm not going to condemn them for their hobby. I think the color is for them, for what is supposed to be a limited amount of time. Roughly interpreted, I believe that means they ordered a few in this color and are testing it's popularity.

As far as a "Limited" model, if offered, it would seem like it would address some of the bikes shortcomings. The hyd brakes and the very debatable rating on the motor among them....

meh, i would never kill animals for sport, i wont even eat most meat but Hunting is perfectly legal and i would imagine E-Bikes could be a great aid to hunters, i have no issue with Rad on that, different strokes...
as far as the new color goes i love it! green Fatbikes Rock!

I disagree hunting is not evil it’s how I was able to feed my family when I lost my job when the company I worked for closed. I might agree trophy hunting is not ethical, however hunters like my self help ensure That the remaining animals have less competition for food and won’t have a painful end by starving or being too weak to fight off illness. In the East where I live the forest can support only 80% of the deer that are living there in the winter hunters cull that 20% annually if not 40- 50 % of them would die over the winter . In conclusion hunting ensures that there will be a healthy heard for the following years harvest. Before man kept the population in check there were predatory animals doing the job but unfortunately in most areas they are nonexistent or in very small populations.

Hunting to put food on the table is fine by me. It's kinda like farming for a lot of locals in many areas. A matter of sustenance.
