It seems that the people at Specialized were listening to the complaints about how difficult it was to get the battery in. They have released a new design of shim and it fits all the older batteries! They added an angle to the shim to help the battery slip in easier and they also added a short lip to help keep the shim located. Works like a charm and the battery only needs a small tap to fully lock into place. They also laser etched the size on the shim so there is less guess work for the mechanic.
