This is my 2023 Orbea 20i. I am 74 years old and love the bike, it keeps me in the game and off the couch. I recently decided to have the Mahle remote shifters installed, because I ride in groups and wanted to be able to change levels without taking my eyes off the bike in front. I took the bike to a dealer in my city to have them installed. This is when the problems started. The installer didn’t want to attempt to remove the HMI switch on the top tube, so took the forks and handle bars off to access the wires. There is obviously a short somewhere, because the pedal assist is now intermittent. They have kind of discouraged me from coming back to make this work properly and have admitted that even though they are a dealer, sell e-bikes and repair non e-bikes bikes, they don’t know much about these bikes. They are the only dealer within 200 miles of me. I have looked for technical information about taking the HMI switch out but could find non and was hoping to find some information here.
