Mid Motor fitted onto foldup bike

I am looking at buying a Giant Expressway 1 and would like to fit a 8Fun 350W mid motor to this bike, can this be done? Has anyone done this before?

Hey Adelle, you should post this under the 8fun/Bafang forum to get more replies or more accurate replies, I should say. The only problem I can for see is cabling issues. The battery can be mounted on the rear rack, allowing the bike to retain its folding capabilities, but that requires longer cables from the batter to the motor.

I don't own a bafang/8fun system yet, but I'm looking into getting one in the future. Good luck.

Thank you for the reply. I thought of putting a frog style battery on the bike. I will post my questions under 8fun/Bafang forum, thanks for the suggestion.
If I go ahead with this project and it works well then I will definitely post some photos here.

Thanks for that, I am really excited. I decided on the Giant Expressway 1 bike, we have local support on these bikes so guarantee, servicing etc. should be no problem. Now just waiting for the motor to arrive.

This is my folding eBike, although its a rear hub motor i can`t see why your BBS02 won`t fit.
It will end up heavy though, possibly 24kgs plus. Also the chainring you get with the kit probably won`t be right. The plus side of things is that you can take it anywhere, fold it up put it in the car or whatever and off to the seaside, park, wherever you choose!
Also i would say is get a good battery, 13aH, 15aH or higher, they fit in the rack at the rear.

@RoyL...Wow, cool bike. What light do you have fitted? It looks retro....nice! Is that a 250W motor you have there?

Yes, the motor is 250w and the battery is 48v 10aH, its ok if you don`t have many steep hills where you are.
The lights front and back came on the bike and run off the battery.

Good question, it was already wired! The power from the battery goes into that green button switch on the handlebars first then to the light, unless there`s some kind of resistor in there to drop the voltage. The light is leds, no voltage markings on it..
