I'm starting a new build. It's taken a while to gather the parts and cells for building the new battery, but I'm FINALLY about to begin A KHS Manhattan smoothie. I' ll use a recycled set ofBB& mechanical disc brakes for the front. And since there are no option for the rear upgrade the pads to Koolstop grey electric bike pads.
Both motors are MAC 10T on Alex 19MM rims. It's a bit of a stretch but the MAXXIS HOOKWORMS on a 19MM rim have a great shape, although it's critical with a rim that narrow to maintain high pressure to avoid roll off. But the shape and fit is great. I did the kits from EM3ev because the12 4110 FTE black controller is Higo plug and play connectors. I'm rapidly becoming enamored but these connectors. First experience was with Bafang mid drives. I've learned that mid drives are a not so great choice for me in and urban setting with flat road riding. Testing indicates it's a beast off the line. I've come to be comfortable with 25-27MPH as a maximum. Anything more on city streets here is conducive to more asshats making left turns into my lane. Drivers see a bike and don't expect the higher speeds. Increased battery voltage could raise the speed into the mid 30'sbut I don't need that. As the build gos forward I'll include pictures and tales of issues. Watch this space. I'mthinking 52V but was tempted to consider a 60V nominal but life after 52V nominal gets far more interesting and sketchy. 60-72V is enough to stop my pacemaker...oops....
