Lithium Industry Buildup Is Outracing the Electric-Car Boom

  • Metal prices plunge 30% as six new mines open in Australia
  • Production of the metal rises as growth slows for EVs in China

Apparently EV sales aren't quite what was forecast.

E-Bike buyers would be more than happy to take up the 'excess' supply if it means cheaper batteries. Cheaper batteries = lower cost ebikes = lots more ebikes sold.

The only things that will drop prices are the development of new improved storage cells that are significantly better and thus decreasing the price on 18650's, and cheaper/more dangerous lithium pack build quality, i.e., morons building their own packs to "save". Ebike sales in America have increased 77% in the last two years, ebike sales aren't an issue or a driving factor in the lithium battery market. "We" just get to take advantage of their intended use in electric car sales.

The increased supply will be soaked up by grid scale batteries...that’s a good thing

If you say so. Cheers
