Just saw a disturbing item. Warranty for online purchases

Afternoon people,

Before you decide to purchase your next bike on line. Make sure that the warranty is still applicable. I just read that some companies do not warrant their bikes if they were purchased via mail order.

Check, it could be important.

Typically those shipped online, at least major brands, are either grey market closeouts. Steals for deals. Most high end makers will not sell direct. Not unlike the normal bike market. Ever try to buy a new Trek, Giant, and similar online?

@elliot friedman some brands are more protective of shipping online. But many brands understand that buying online for many people just makes sense and honour full warranties on their products in the same way as if someone were to come into a retail store.

I’m seeing more problems with internet sales than brick and mortar. Often the internet sales are dumbed down and lower quality components. Some even charge as much as $800 for a warranty. I remain firmly in the kit camp. Find a bike that fits right and see if it’s a candidate for a good quality kit. Or search build threads fo4 good candidates. Using the reviews here can help avoid some pitfalls and generate good build ideas. Not for everyone especially if not handy and with tools. Those folks aren’t good candidates for internet purchases either, IMO. Best to realize that a great bik3 is an inves5ment and go with a good shop, one that can provide good service and a proper warranty. Once completed with all the bells and whistles it’s easy to spend $2000-3000 on a great ride. Adding all the accoutrements adds up quickly. After building a score of differen5 versions i am about to buy a Trek on sale.

We understand that spending a large sum of money online can be extremely daunting. This is why we only sell brands that we can strongly vouch for in terms of performance and reliability. All the brands that we carry offer at least a 2 year warranty regardless if the bike were purchased through our website or in-store.

It is often the case that we deal with customers in remote locations and in these circumstances, we tend to recommend Bosch equipped bikes because of their reliability. The reliability of the Bosch motor system is second to none. Bosch also has the largest network of certified dealers/service centers of any e-bike brand. Bosch commits to building a comprehensive service concept whenever they enter a new market.

Outstanding to hear someone takes this level of care! Good on you!

I agree 100%, the only way to get exactly what you want and know what you've got, build your own, great advice.
