"It's worth every penny"

Hi Pedego Peeps,

Today I had my Interceptor at my local bike repair shop, run by bike expert Dan Sotelo. He was super impressed with the bike. First, let me share his credentials--here is his business card. He has super reasonable prices and is very generous with his time--he has a real passion for cycling and bikes.

Anyway, as he was going over my bike with me giving me a little bike maintenance lesson (for free, no less), he talked about the high quality parts the bike was made of. He was very impressed with the large rotors ("usually bikes have little ones, and these are much better), the brake pads adjustable from both sides, and other bike components. He asked me "What did you pay for this bike." I told him that it's a $3,000 bike, and he said "It's worth every penny."

I was really happy to hear this, because I don't know how many times folks have told me that the price I paid was due to customer service and a network of local dealers. Well, folks, yes, for the price of our bikes we do get great customer service and many of us are fortunate to have local dealers. BUT, according to Dan, we've also gotten well-built bikes with top of the line components.

So, I'm an even prouder and happier Pedego owner today than I was yesterday! :)

BTW, I have no financial connection with Pedego or Dan's bike shop business. I'm merely a happy customer, with four months of ebiking under my belt.

Enjoy your bikes! :)

I have been riding bicycles and motorcycles since the 1960's. Both provide more fun and enjoyment than any car I've ever owned. With that in mind I've always been puzzled at the penny pinching nature of many of my fellow riders. I've watched them try to nickel and dime local bike shop owners over almost every purchase, and belittle other riders with their self righteous judgements. (It's not hard to spot a few of those on this forum.)

The knowledge and support of local experts like Dan Sotelo that ebikemom found is in valuable ... far more important than saving a buck or two on-line or at a large corporate shop, and certainly more important than a perceived sub-par level of component. Relationships matter. Delight in ownership should never be slighted.

@Richard GS , yes, my ebike gives me more joy than my wonderful car! My car is beautiful and lovely to drive, but ... nothing like riding a bike.

And, it's great to get opinions of experts who don't have a pony in the race! Dan wasn't selling anything--he's a repair/rebuild/customizing guy. It was lovely to hear his positive impressions of my bike's build and value.

As for local bike shops, I'm on the same page, for sure--if we want there to BE local bike shops, we must shop at them ... or they will fold their tents and go the way of local independent bookshops, local independent groceries, local independent toy stores, local independent hardware stores ... and so on.

I agree about local bike shops. I patronize them whenever I can. I could have gotten a better price for my Platinum Interceptor online but I drove 3 hours to the nearest Pedego dealer instead.

Local bike shops are a great source of information and a cool place to just hang out.
