I met COURT and learned some new stuff....about COURT

Court is in Los Angelas. I got to hang out with Court yesterday at Disneyland. I am the electricbike.com and lunacycle.com founder and electricbikereview.com is the only ebike website i know that kicks our ass and i am so fine with that. this guy deserves it.

He is not the guy i was expecting... he really is way more complex than that helmet wearing safety guy i always thought of . He is a super interesting anomaly like many of my heroes in this scene are (Karl, Justin, Dogati, Life forPhysics) and Court ranks up there with the best of them.

I met him and here are my observations.

  • He is a true believer in electric bikes and i dont believe any ebike company has ever bought him off.
  • He is a former sponsored semi-pro snowboarder and also skateboarder.
  • He sustained an injury when he was younger that grounded him.
  • He is super funny, genuine and smart. Somebody I could talk to forever...especially about ebikes.
  • He is on a quest to find the perfect ebike and still hasnt found what he is looking for. (me 2) (U2)
  • He spends most of the year living out of this car to make this happen. i love that.
  • He is kind of a hippy.
  • He once worked for google and has had other high paying jobs which he has given up for this site.
  • He has a love of the unknown and has no idea where his life is going....he reminds me of an electric bike Buddha on some weird sabbatical driving around his Prius meeting ebike people.
  • He has many off the record conversations with Sondors ( who rarely talks to anybody)
  • He loves people
  • He has many other interests but is a super intellectual... is big into the ideas how advanced technology will effect the world...not just ebikes
  • Even when on the road he is obsessed with keeping up with answering posts here, his email...and his phone.
  • He chooses to make himself always accessible to this community.
  • He is the ultimate people person and seems to be turning down the ypical pursuit of money (and the standard american dream) in exchange for the unknown, meeting new people,
In general i was super impressed. This guy has really given his life to building this site and this forum. I have spent a lot of the last few days getting to know him both on phone and in meeting ....and i want to do a story on this guy. I think he is a true hero of the ebike revolution and for now on all my sites will link to him.

I was always a little curious about him. I mainly wondered if he worked. I thought to myself, how does he do a 40 hour week and find time to do the test rides and keep up with this website. Now you have answered this. I met Crazy Lenny this summer and I always wanted to meet Court. Maybe someday I will! Thanks for the post.

Thanks for the kind words @Green Machine! It's inspiring to hang out with people like you who are shaping the industry... creating new products and imagining how the world might be someday. And thank you @JayVee for the extra support. I do my best to keep this place friendly and open, inclusive of all the different angles but not overly promotional... always trying to strike that balance. I'm headed out for a bit to review some bikes in Mexico but hoping to do some cool stuff in the LA area with @Green Machine eventually. Keep an eye out :)
